Inferhythm ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how your personal information is collected, used, and disclosed by Inferhythm.
1. Information We Collect
- Spotify Account Data & Authentication Tokens: When you choose to connect your Spotify account, you sign in via Spotify’s OAuth login. We receive temporary authorization tokens (such as access tokens) required to communicate with the Spotify API. We do not see, collect, or store your Spotify account password.
- Currently Playing Track Information: When you interact with the extension, we query the Spotify API to retrieve metadata about the song you are currently listening to (such as the track title, artist name, and album information).
- Search and Usage Data: The extension takes the track information retrieved from Spotify and passes it as a search query to the Genius API to fetch relevant search results and lyrics.
2. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect strictly for the following purposes:
- To Provide the Core Service: To communicate with Spotify, identify the track you are listening to, and query the Genius API to display matching search results and lyrics directly within the extension UI.
- To Maintain Your Session: To keep your Spotify account linked to the extension so you don't have to re-authenticate every time you use it.
3. Information Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We only share information with third-party service providers as necessary to operate the extension:
- Spotify API: When you use the extension, requests are sent to Spotify to retrieve your current playback data in accordance with Spotify’s Developer Policy.
- Genius API: Song titles and artist metadata retrieved from your Spotify session are passed to Genius to fetch relevant search results and lyrics.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.
4. Data Storage and Security
- Local Storage: Authentication tokens and extension preferences may be stored locally on your device using Chrome's secure storage mechanisms (
chrome.storage).
- No Long-term Tracking: We do not maintain external databases that store your personal listening history, tracking logs, or profiles. Data fetched from Spotify and Genius is processed on the fly and displayed to you in real time.
- Security Measures: We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect any data handled by the extension. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
5. Your Choices and User Rights
- Revoking Access: You can disconnect your Spotify account from our extension at any time by going to your Spotify Apps Page and revoking access for Inferhythm.
- Uninstalling the Extension: You can completely remove all locally stored extension data by uninstalling Inferhythm from your Google Chrome browser.
6. Children's Privacy
Our extension is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page with a revised effective date.
